Philips have produced light therapy lamps for years now and have a lot of experience, which really shows. Philips EnergyUp Energy light is my personal favourite due to the combination of beautiful design, strong but pleasant light and the overall ease of use. The lamp has a modern, clean and minimalistic look that looks good enough to be left standing on the desk during the day, which can not be said of many other light therapy lamps.
That said, the lamp does have a foldable metal stand at the back which allow it to be packed away flat if needed. The front has an indicator showing the time that the light has been on in ten minute intervals up to an hour, making it straightforward to see if the lamp has been used long enough for effective results. Overall the size is perfect for placement on a desk and the stand makes it easy to adjust the lamp for a good angle in relation to each person’s height and posture.
Since this is an LED lamp it will last for years without the need for any maintenance. The light intensity can be adjusted from a rather low light level up to the full output in five steps using simple touch buttons. Being able to adjust the light level is very important for anyone with sensitive eyes, since it allows for the eyes to adjust to the strong light.
Overall I can really recommend this light therapy lamp. I use it next to me on my desk while having breakfast every morning and 20 to 30 minutes seem to be long enough to give me a good nights sleep. During the weekends I tend to lower the light level after about half an hour and then simply leave it on if I’m working during the morning and the early afternoon.
Please note that the Philips EnergyUp Energy light does not seem to be a widely available in the US. Instead I would recommend the product below from Philips in case the reviewed product is not available in your region of the world.
